Kollywood stars drop by for Natchathira Vizha festival

Petaling Jaya: Superstar Rajinikanth is back in his “second home” propelling the Natchathira Vizha 2018 Festival into full swing.

The Indian superstar arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday as part of the Kollywood entourage for the festival taking place at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, from 10am to 10pm today.

Rajinikanth, 67, was greeted at KLIA by Malik Streams Corp CEO, Datuk Abdul Malik Dasthigeer. Malik Streams is one of the festival’s organisers.

“I am back in Malaysia after filming Kabali. Malaysia is like my second home,” said Rajinikanth upon arrival.

Some 35,000 tickets have been sold so far, with RM400,000 collected.

From the sales amount, RM150,000 will be distributed to Tamil schools in Malaysia, the Indian performing arts body Seni India Malaysia (GASIM), and orphanages and old folks homes.

A spokesperson from Malik Streams said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to attend the event, which will include a concert, in the evening.

More than 250 stars, including South Indian movie star Kamal Haasan, will take part in charity events.
