Last seen playing a pivotal role in Vikram’s I, Upen Patel is back to Kollywood to play a baddie in actor Atharvaa’s next yet-untitled film. Apparently, he had declined many offers to play the antagonist in recent times until this opportunity came along and he was really impressed with the script. Talking to Deccan Chronicle, director Kannan said that he felt Upen would be perfect choice for the role.
“The script has a strong villain character that is very challenging. I was looking out for the best person to play this role and when I got the opportunity to narrate the script to Upen Patel. He just loved it. He said he has been getting a lot of villain roles but none excited him like this one. Every aspect including his looks would be distinctive. There’s a lot of scope for performance. The climax sequence between Upen and Atharvaa will be the highlight of the movie,” Kannada said.
Also starring Megha Akash, the project is expected to go on the floors very soon. Kannan, a former associate of Mani Ratnam, last made Ivan Thanthiran with Gautham Karthik. Despite being taken out theatres in just a week following the strike last year, the film opened to raving reviews and impressed critics and audiences alike.
