SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Students at Syracuse University were alerted Sunday and asked to stay from three robbery scenes, shortly after police responded.
The Syracuse Police Department says the suspects in each robbery are the same.
Two notices were sent. The first just after 8 p.m. by Syracuse University's Department of Public Safety (DPS) after a reported robbery on the 100 block of Ostrom Avenue. The second notice was sent by campus police less than an hour later, for robberies on the 300 block of Roosevelt Avenue and near the intersection of Buckingham and Meadowbrook Drive.
Students received both alerts via email. "The Syracuse Police Department and the Department of Public Safety are on the scene and investigating," said the message sent by DPS.
Syracuse Police say the first robbery involved a suspect with a silver handgun and occurred around 7:20 p.m. near Ostrom Avenue and Comstock on the SU hill.
The victim told police he handed over his wallet after two men approached him and demanded his possessions.
The first suspect was described as a black male wearing a ski mask, 20-30 years old, 6’03” tall, large build, wearing brown hooded sweatshirt and pants. The other suspect was described as a black male, 20-30 years old, 5’10” tall, thin build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The suspects possibly left the area in a light-colored SUV style vehicle, southbound on Ostrom Avenue.
